About this drama
Following the sudden death of her closest friend from cancer, burned-out Beijing hotel manager Xu Hongdou quits her corporate career and retreats to a quiet courtyard guesthouse in Dali, Yunnan. There she crosses paths with Xie Zhiyao, an ex-financier who returned home to develop sustainable local tourism. As Hongdou lends her hospitality expertise to the village, she and a circle of fellow burnout refugees rediscover purpose, community, and an unhurried romance.
Who this is for
A balm for anyone feeling burned out or grieving. Set among the stone courtyards and lakes of Yunnan, it treats community healing as the main event and romance as a natural byproduct. Give it a pass if you need fast stakes, melodramatic twists, or a plot driven primarily by romantic conflict.
Our take
Meet Yourself is fundamentally about processing loss, urban exhaustion, and community revitalization rather than standard romance tropes. The dynamic between Liu Yifei and Li Xian works because it feels patient and adult, though the first 8–10 episodes demand real patience while the sprawling village ensemble is introduced. Some side arcs border on didactic tourism promo, but the scenic immersion and warm emotional core make it one of modern C-drama's most comforting slice-of-life entries.
Pacing & content notes
Deliberately slow throughout. The first 8–10 episodes linger on introducing villagers and guesthouse residents, and side stories like Master Ma's business venture take time to unfold. Pacing steadies around episodes 9–12; the leads only become an official couple around episodes 31–32.
