About this drama
Ji Qiu, a young variety show director, crosses paths with Zhou Ziqian, a competitive shooter who has just returned to China. Though they were childhood friends, Ji Qiu doesn't recognize him at first, leading to a series of playful misunderstandings. As they begin working together on a new television project, their bond deepens, eventually evolving from a bickering friendship into a sweet and sincere romance.
Who this is for
Viewers who want a short, low-angst modern comedy about a group of friends, siblings and teammates, with a childhood-friends romance and a younger-man male lead. It works as easy background fluff with good ensemble banter and bromance. Skip it if you want a romance-driven story with steady progression, real sports content about competitive shooting, or much plot.
Our take
A fluffy, light, almost angst-free youth show whose strongest parts are the friendships: the bickering between the male lead and second lead, the sibling pairs, the shooting-team trio, and the heroine's variety-show crew. The central childhood-friends romance is often called the weakest thread, with the heroine oblivious for most of the run and some viewers feeling she had more chemistry with the second lead. A secondary couple (Xu Wang and Song Rongrong) is frequently named as the favourite pairing despite limited screen time. While the plot is thin and competitive shooting is mostly a backdrop, the natural acting and live voice work earn steady praise.
Pacing & content notes
The main romance is a very slow burn: the male lead's feelings are clear early, but the heroine stays oblivious until near the end and the couple only gets together around episode 18 of 20. Several viewers found the middle boring or skimmed; others felt the short episodes kept it from dragging.
Heads up
- Second male lead's long-running unrequited love for the heroine
- Very late payoff for the main couple
- Loud, overplayed OST that some viewers found distracting
